What is Budo Taijutsu?
Budo Taijutsu is a synthesized martial system derived from ancient ninjutsu and samurai arts. Students of this art form are trained by a sensei, or “teacher,” in unarmed combat, traditional and modern weaponry, locks, tumbling, leaping, and meditation. Unlike many popular martial art forms, Budo Taijutsu is a non-competitive martial art. Emphasis is paced on real life combat scenarios (shinken-gata) and personal development, rather than on sport. This emphasis on shinken-gata exposes students to techniques that may not be present in sport martial arts.
Budo Taijutsu uses force generated from muscle relaxation, skeletal alignment, regulated breathing, and natural, efficient movement. These techniques allow a weaker person to overcome a stronger, quicker adversary. In this sense, Budo Taijutsu is a practical martial art that can be used as self-defense by anyone, regardless of age, gender, size, or strength. |
